Visit to Mtskheta – “city-museum” and ancient capital of Georgia. We will visit:
• Jvari (VI c.) - A temple on top of a mountain near the convergence of the Kura and Aragvi rivers was built in the VI century. Jvari Monastery is one of the masterpieces of architecture and the first monument in Georgia World Heritage Site.
• Svetitschoveli (XI c.) - one of the main Georgian Orthodox churches, whose name is traditionally translated as "life-giving pillar ". In this cathedral houses one of the holiest shrines of Christianity - the tunic of Jesus Christ. The church is also entered in the list of monuments protected by UNESCO.
• Samtavro Monastery (IV c.) - According to legend, the very first church was built on the site where Saint Nino was preaching Christianity, whose light shone in all of Georgia. Samtavro Temple also has many shrines: the life-giving part of the pillar, the miraculous icon Iberian Mother of God, the miraculous icon of St. Nino, donated from St. Petersburg by King Giorgi XII to his grandchildren in 1870, the graves of saints kings Mirian and Nana, the relics of St. Abibosa Nekresi (are under the altar in the sanctuary), the relics of St. Shio Mgvime, part of the stone from the tomb of St. Nino Bodbe.
